Lesson 1 Add an article to the front page (Article is basically your content)
When you receive your installation e-mail from the request formOpen up the Public URL: in one window or tab
Open up the Admin URL: in another window or tab
Login to the admin page with your Username and Password you will find on your e-mail.
The public URL will show you what the public can see and as you make updates in the Admin page you can go to the Public URL, press F5 to refresh the page and see the changes.
In your Admin page you will see your control panel
1 -Click on icon (left) Add new article (Article window will appear)
2 - Give the article a title
3 - Ignore alias
4 - Section – uncategorised (later you will learn to add sections and categories)
5 - Published - Yes
6 - Front-page – Yes
7 - Category - uncategorised
8 - Use the simple editor to add some words (we will soon install a better editor but i s worth having a play with a simple editor.)
Before you save and look at your work on your public URL take a look to the right of your article and you will see -
Parameters (Article)
Author - who you are logged in as, its possible to appoint other authors
Author Alias – if you do not want your name against the article add an alias
Access Level - Public – you can set up other areas for registered members only
Created Date – defaults to the date you created your article
Start Publishing - defaults to the date you created but can be changed if you want the article to go live at a later date.
Finish Publishing - defaults to blank but you can set up an expiry date so you do not have outdated articles.

Metadata Information - Ignore for now
9 - You can now save or apply your article top right. (Both do the same but apply will allow you come back to make changes. Save will take you to the article manager.)
Go to your Public URL and refresh your page (F5) you will see your article, if not you probably not clicked on frontpage yes when creating the article.
Go back to Admin URL and if your in your article manager click on new (top right) and create yourself another article as before and click yes to published and frontpage you can have numerous articles on the front page.
You will find there are many ways to access your articles so have a play and see where else you can access articles and try to find out how to open and edit. Have a go at editing and playing with the article features. Most of the features are intuitive and you will not break it. *smile*
